TSA JUNIOR RACING 2024

Dear Junior Athletes,

Herewith follows essential information regarding Junior racing for 2024. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Please note that information pertaining to all events mentioned below can be found on the World Triathlon Website – https://triathlon.org/events and that all dates are subject to change.

2024 Sprint Triathlon Junior African Cup Troutbeck (Ages 16-19) – 17^th February 2024

TSA will shortly be selecting the South African Junior team (16 – 19) to participate at the abovementioned 2024 Sprint Triathlon Junior African Cup to be held in Zimbabwe.

The selected team will be announced no later than 31^st January 2024.

Please note that all Jnrs are eligible to participate even if they are not selected, but only the TSA selected athletes will receive funding contributions. The funding contribution for TSA selected Athletes will be an amount of R10,000 each.

The team will depart on the 15^th of February from OR Tambo and return on the 18^th of February.

There will be a TSA-appointed coach who will be traveling with the Athletes and will offer assistance where necessary.

The total estimated cost per Athlete for the tour will be approximately R14 000, of which TSA will contribute R10 000.

This will include:
- Flights from OR TAMBO – HARARE (Including return)
- Accommodation at the Resort
- Meals at the resort in Zimbabwe
- Awards Dinner
- Bus transfer from Airport to the Resort. (Including return)

Not included is the following:

Local flights to and from OR Tambo,
TSA Trisuit (TSA Trisuit are available from the office. Athletes are allowed to participate in provincial Trisuit.)
Event entry fee. Entry fee to be paid in cash at registration in USD! (USD80)

2024 African Triathlon Jnr Cup Maselspoort (Ages 16-19) & South African youth Triathlon Championships (Ages 12 – 15) – 2^nd and 3^rd March 2024

All juniors wishing to participate at the 2024 African Triathlon Championships in Egypt on 19/20 April, must participate at Maselspoort.

Therefore, we encourage all 16 – 19 juniors to participate at the Jnr Cup.

Entries are to be done via the TSA office – office@triathlonsa.co.za

Athletes aged 12 – 15 who will be participating in the South African youth Triathlon Championships will be selected via provinces and Team managers who will communicate selections and entry procedures.

During this event TSA will be hosting a Pre – event Workshop on Saturday, 2 March (Details will be communicated via provinces.)

Workshops are open to all juniors wanting to apply.

2024 African Triathlon Jnr Cup Swakopmund (Ages 16-19) 23^rd March 2024

All 16 – 19 juniors are eligible to participate at the Jnr Cup in Swakopmund, however, TSA will not be sending a coach to the event.

2024 African Triathlon Junior Cup Nelson Mandela Bay (ALSO THE SOUTH AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS (Ages 16-19) – 6^th April 2024

Athletes aged 16 – 19 participating in the South African Junior Cup in Nelson Mandela Bay will be selected via provinces and Team managers who will communicate selections and entry procedures.

During this event TSA will be hosting a Pre – event Workshop on Saturday, 6 April (Details will be communicated via provinces.)

Workshops are open to all juniors wanting to apply.

2024 African Triathlon championships Hurghada – 19^th April 2024

As this Event is an African Championship, NO Junior Athlete who did not participate at the 2024 African Triathlon Jnr Cup in Maselspoort will be allowed to enter.

TSA will not be sending a coach to the event.

Athletes must participate in a TSA Trisuit.

2024 Junior Tour

Tours are always funding dependent. As matters stand currently, TSA does not have the necessary budget for a junior tour for 2024. The aim will therefore be to try and generate the funds to allow us to select a team to participate in 2025 (Every second year).
