Andrea Steyn and Brand du Plessis walked away with gold at the 2013 SA Duathlon Champs while Rohan Philip Kennedy and Terri Lynn Penney made their mark in the men’s and ladies categories respectively at the 2013 SA Long Distance Duathlon Champs.
Andrea Steyn lead from start to finish to win the very small elite women’s field at the African Duathlon Champs.

Travis Johnston and Brand du Plessis lead the Elite men’s race into T1 with a 1min11sec lead to the rest of the field after averaging 3min10sec on the first 10km run leg. These two leading men stretched the gap to 7min43sec with a 37km/h average on the 40km bike leg. Johnston started the final run leg with a 1 second lead ahead of du Plessis. Brand overtook Johnston and pulled away from him increasing the gap to 1min16sec on the final 5km run to win the Elite men’s race.
The Long Distance Duathlon event comprising of 20km run, 80km cycle and 10km run saw 12 athletes on the start line. For the elite ladies race the results were as follows:
